Energy Audits:
Trinity Green Services provides three levels of Energy Audits:
Level 1 Audit:
Known as the “walk through”, the Level 1 Audit includes a visual inspection of each energy-using system. When there are multiple sites and facilities, we gather the data necessary to sort sites in order of priority for potential energy savings.
- For single sites or facilities, a preliminary estimate can be performed to determine whether a more detailed audit would be cost effective.
- We will evaluate energy consumption data provided by the client.
- This audit allows us to compare your facility to industry benchmarks.
- We will generate a report listing strategic steps to be implemented to achieve set goals.
- This is the least costly and most general audit, and serves as a foundation for more detailed audits.
Level 2 Audit:
Level 2 is a more detailed audit on targeted facilities and operations. It includes:
- A full Level 1 Audit.
- A review and analysis of equipment, systems, and operational characteristics.
- On-site measurement and testing of energy use and efficiency.
- Standard Engineering calculations are used to analyze efficiencies and calculate energy cost savings based on planned improvements.
- An economic analysis of recommended cost saving measures.
- An estimate (not a measurement) of Greenhouse Gas emissions.
Level 3 Audit:
Level 3 is a targeted audit which includes a computer model capable of running real world simulations showing the cost saving opportunities in each site facility. This is most often used for major energy renovations of large existing facilities or when building new facilities. A Level 3 Audit can provide:
- Detailed base line calculations compared to potential renovation energy usage data.
- Operational process redesign recommendations to reach energy savings.
- Specialized simulations, such as unique weather and shading.
- A cost savings analysis to help procure financing.
- Data to help initiate a climate management Greenhouse Gas or Carbon Management Program.
Candidate Facilities for an Energy Audit and possible Energy Conservation Measures (ECM) may have:
- High Energy bills in comparison to peers.
- Mostly electrical systems, with little natural gas.
- Energy Costs of 8 cents a kilowatt or higher.
- A facility over 10 years old with no previous energy audit.
- Recently identified as a “Covered Entity” requiring Greenhouse Gas emission reporting by the EPA.
- Begun to prepare for a major renovation or update.

Leed for Homes
Trinity Green can help create strategies to achieve LEED status, manage the project certification process, conduct a home energy rating, as well as train and work with each applicable subcontractor to ensure that all of the materials used on site are appropriate. Trinity can also take care of the storm water requirements that are mandated at the city and state level, and are also required for LEED certification.
We do all of this while watching your bottom line to make sure that you come in right on budget. Call us early because many points are easier to achieve and more cost effective in the horizontal phase of construction.
NAHB Green
The NAHB has come out with its own green building standards in response to the LEED for Homes program. At Trinity we are very familiar with this program and can walk you through each step of the certification process. We can help with credit consultation, project management, documentation, and communication with the subcontractors so that you can focus on building quality homes.
Home Energy Ratings
In a recent NAHB survey, 64% of those polled said that “reduced energy costs” would be the most important factor in their decision to purchase a new green home. Trinity Green is here to serve you as a builder, recognizing the energy challenges you face in today’s building standards. Home energy ratings are available to assist you in qualifying your home as Energy Star efficient, which ensures lower utility bills for the homeowner. Through a short process of two different inspections (rough-in and final), our certified technicians run a battery of tests evaluating the home’s tightness, insulation, appliances, heating/cooling and water heating systems. Our goal is to partner with you in securing the Energy Star mark of approval, which adds considerable value to every home that you build.
